I guess if you think the average American is dumb-as-rocks, bringing the campaign discourse essentially down to the level of “the candidate I don’t like hates God and hates America”, is acceptable. And I guess so long as the likes of Peggy Noonan can keep blowing smoke up our asses with a constant refrain of ‘but wait, look at the boogeyman over there!’ to distract us from the economy, rising gas prices as summer approaches, a ballooning deficit, environmental problems and being bogged down for God knows how long in Iraq, you’ve scored one for the team.

Actually, its the Dems who thing Americans are “dumb as rocks”. That’s why, when we face economic stress, we get bitter and cling to our churches and guns, and express animosity towards those who are “not like us”, turn anti-immigration, and oppose foreign trade (like NAFTA).
But we know we can count on the Dems. Reid and Pelosi both promised us that if the public put Dems in control of Congress, that the Dems would be sure that gas prices declined. But, it seems that instead, gas prices have climbed faster than ever before since the Dems gained control!
But blame Bush or Cheney. It must be Haliburton’s fault. Or the President’s big oil buddies. Sure, the Dem Congress has had two investigations into “Big Oil gouging” and found nothing, but that is beside the point. You can’t hold the Dems responsible. Its REpublican filibusters! The Dems need a 60 seat majority to get anything done!
Speaking of “dumb as a box o’ rocks”, we are not all that addled that we will buy into Reid and Pelosi propaganda. They promised, and we believe in ACCOUNTABILITY.
