The most enraging thing about the billions of dollars private contractors have been squandering with their profitable contracts in Iraq (and other places), is how there are so many reports piling up that they are not even providing the very services required under the contract, or worse, doing such a piss-poor job that it is [...]

A Bit Of Humility Can Go A Long Way
March 27th, 2009 · 1 Comment
Hillary Clinton just returned from a two day trip to Mexico, where she did something a US Secretary of State has not done for quite a while- injected some humility into her speeches, Q&A’s and demeanor. And guess what? It seems to be helping the United State’s image abroad which will benefit us [...]

A Dialogue
March 26th, 2009 · 6 Comments
Over at the Washington Note, Steve Clemons has an interesting post (and video) about an interview he did yesterday with a member of Palestinian Fatah who supports a pro-unity government. It is a very interesting dialogue and worth checking out. The post is here and there is a video link once you get [...]

Secretary Clinton’s Job Approval High
March 25th, 2009 · 4 Comments
A new CNN poll finds that not surprisingly, Hillary Clinton’s job approval (as Secretary of State) is high among both Democrats and Republicans. Granted, we are only in the beginning of the first term, but she has a lot of political clout and popularity which she can use to promote US interests abroad.

It’s nice to see government actually use all the communication tools at their disposal, particularly with respect to communicating with ‘We The People’. Hopefully, there is a real effort taking place to improve transparency and provide a platform for citizens to communicate more readily with their officials,
During the 2008 presidential campaign it was [...]

As if toxic pet food and pharmaceuticals aren’t enough, now we are going to import condoms from China because they are a little bit cheaper? Of course they are cheaper! The question is, do they do what they are supposed to do? I guess some people may find out, the hard way.
In [...]

China: The 800lb Gorilla
March 23rd, 2009 · 7 Comments
China continues to throw it’s economic weight around and seems to have been successful in ensuring that other countries ignore it’s deplorable human rights record.
When Secretary Clinton went on her first overseas trip to Asia, she managed to appease a nervous Chinese Government by declaring that China’s worsening human rights, rigid communism and [...]

The Class Divide
March 23rd, 2009 · 2 Comments
If you needed proof of the growing divide between the political pundit, Beltway class and the average American, take a look here.
While most Americans agree that the AIG bonus debacle is outrageous, the fact of the matter is that most of us are not quite as obsessed with it as the corporate media [...]
