Pathetic Excuse for a Senate Maj. Leader

May 20th, 2009 · 8 Comments

Exactly what purpose does Sen. Harry Reid serve? Because I’m just not seeing it. He is the most lily-livered, indecisive person in Congress. He is the worst person to be delivering the Democrat’s message, let alone the administration’s message.

Stumble It!

Harry Reid is not known as one of the most courageous leaders of the Senate in its long history. Basically, he is self-serving. But I told you that long ago, and I am glad you finally realized that I was right.

Sen Reid’s (D) statement on GITMO was even more conclusive than Inhofe’s (a Republican). Reid drew an even sharper line in the sand reducing the President’s options. He doesn’t even want detainees transporter to the US for trial! This means the “military tribunals” (another Bush policy being resurrected) will be held at GITMO.

It is quite likely now that Obama WILL NOT be able to close GITMO.

At least we can be thankful for one thing; this is an example of bipartisanship in the Congress. Both parties agree on how to proceed on this issue, and that is to NOT let GITMO detainees to enter the US. It also vindicates the decision and policies on GITMO implemented by Pres. Bush. And it appears as if GITMO will be there with detainees for the forseeable future.

Ouch! Now we understand why Obama decided to NOT release the “abuse photos”. Apparently he has been conducting “focus groups”:

I wonder who is advising Obama in the White House regarding all this back-peddling? My guess is Rahm Emmanuel

Probably Rezko. Oops, I mean Axelrod! His political advisor is the one conducting the focus groups, so he is probably the one giving the advice after discussion with Rahm. Rahm’s job is, as I understand it, to get the feel of Congress and thread those needles.

A couple of the “blow ups” that have caught the Obama Administration “wrong-footed” have been the fault of Rahm, IMHO. He is good with politicos, but sometimes has a tin ear with the public and listens to the liberal devotees too often. Axelrod is the one who “brings them to earth”, but often is not able to “weigh in” on short fuse stuff that catch them off guard, so Rahm gives advice that is “happily liberal”, but out of step with much of America. That’s what happened with the “prosecute the GITMO advisors” SNAFU came from.

If he’d delivered the truth you wouldn’t like him either: Of Mortgage Brokers, ARMs, Attrition and Marathons

By the way, if you have been looking for the right statistics to debunk some politicians spin, I have just added a Reference List to my economics blog with economic data series, history, bibliographies etc. for students & researchers.
