Special Envoy to Haiti

May 20th, 2009 · 5 Comments

In an interesting, albeit strange development, former President Bill Clinton has been named UN Special Envoy to Haiti, a country which the former President has been very interested in for some time. There is no doubt he is extremely popular there and can use his status to bring attention to the many social issues plaguing the extremely impoverished nation.

    Welcome back!

Bill clinton will make a fine envoy. He is a good fundraiser, and he is not too bad at bridging differences between people and groups, so he can put coalitions together. Still, Haiti is a tough nut to crack!

This position may well be part of his plan to some day rise to be the head of the UN. He has that goal from long ago. Will this help him get there?

Ooooo. Ick! Obama “breaks with another Bush policy”:

On the bright side, however, Obama is addressing “the greatest challenge we have ever faced as a people” with his new CAFE standards. WWII, the black plague, smallpox, AIDS, nuclear proliferation, and the Great Depression were small change in comparison to getting 20 auto execs and “green activists” together to agree on standards for fuel economy!

And we get to own GM! Hows that for priorities?

What’s a few million deaths in Africa, anyway. That was a George Bush priority and we all know how evil he was! ;-)
